1. Overview and controller

SprichMitte is a German-language learning application operated by Ehsan K. Harchegani, based in Germany (referred to as “SprichMitte,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). The operator is the controller of personal data described in this policy, except where a service provider acts as an independent controller under its own terms.

This policy applies to the SprichMitte mobile application and this consumer website. The website does not contain analytics, advertising scripts, or non-essential cookies. The hosting provider may still process basic request information, such as IP address, browser type, and timestamps, to deliver and secure the website.

2. Data we handle

Speech recognition

Speech recognition is optional. Depending on your device, language, settings, and operating system, recognition may occur on the device or be sent securely to Apple, Google, or another system speech provider. Their processing is governed by their own privacy terms. You can withdraw microphone or speech-recognition permission in your device settings, although speaking exercises will then be unavailable.

3. Why we use data

We process the information described above to:

• create and secure your account and keep you signed in;
• sync your bookmarks, learning progress, and review schedule;
• provide listening, recall, and speaking exercises;
• remember your language, appearance, and app preferences;
• download and cache lessons for reliable playback;
• process, restore, and verify Premium subscription access;
• receive, investigate, and respond to contact and support requests;
• maintain security, prevent misuse, troubleshoot, and comply with legal duties.

Legal bases in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland

Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on performance of our agreement with you to provide the app, legitimate interests in securing and improving the service, your consent for optional permissions where required, and compliance with legal obligations. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing that occurred before withdrawal.

4. Service providers

We use carefully selected providers to operate SprichMitte. They process information under their own terms and, where applicable, on our instructions.

Where a provider processes personal data on our behalf, we use contractual, confidentiality, and security safeguards intended to provide the same or equivalent protection described in this policy and required by applicable law.

• Apple, Google, passwordless email, and Firebase Authentication Account sign-in, identity, session security, and abuse prevention.
• Google Cloud Firestore and Firebase infrastructure Storage and synchronisation of account settings, bookmarks, and learning progress.
• Apple App Store, Google Play, and RevenueCat Payment processing, subscription validation, purchase restoration, entitlement status, and subscription management. Apple or Google processes the payment itself; RevenueCat helps SprichMitte verify the resulting Premium access.
• Apple or Google system speech services Speech-to-text processing when you choose a speaking exercise and grant permission.
• Website and content hosting providers Delivery of this website, app data, and downloadable lesson audio.
• Email providers Delivery, spam filtering, and storage of messages you send to our published addresses.

Some providers operate globally. Personal data may therefore be processed outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, transfers are protected using recognised safeguards such as adequacy decisions, data-protection frameworks, or standard contractual clauses.

5. Retention and deletion

Account settings, bookmarks, and synced learning progress are generally retained while your account remains active so the service can preserve your learning history. Local lesson content, audio, and settings remain on your device until the app clears them or you remove the app or its data. Apple, Google, and RevenueCat retain transaction and subscription records according to legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, and service requirements. Other providers retain technical data according to their own retention policies.

You can delete your SprichMitte account and associated synced learning data directly in the app. If you cannot access the app, request deletion at info@eulangprep.com. After we verify an emailed request, we aim to complete deletion within 30 days unless information must be kept longer for security, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, or a legal obligation. Some residual encrypted backups may be removed on the provider’s normal backup cycle.

Email messages and optional attachments are retained for up to 12 months so we can respond and follow up, then deleted unless they must be retained longer for a dispute, security issue, or legal obligation.

6. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

• request access to or a copy of your personal data;
• correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
• request deletion, restriction, or portability;
• object to processing based on legitimate interests;
• withdraw consent through the app or device settings;
• complain to your local data-protection authority.

You can change microphone and speech-recognition permissions in device settings. To exercise another right, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

We do not sell account details or learning progress for money, and SprichMitte does not use an advertising network for targeted advertising.

7. Children

SprichMitte is a general-audience language-learning service and is not specifically designed or marketed for children under 16. We do not knowingly seek to collect personal data from a child under 16 without the authorisation of a parent or guardian where that authorisation is required. If you believe a child has provided personal data without appropriate permission, contact us so we can review and delete it.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app, our providers, or legal requirements change. We will update the effective date above and provide additional notice in the app when a change materially affects your rights or choices.
